Create Your Own Holiday Ornaments

Greetings friends. Are you getting ready for the holidays? It is Teri with TerisMailbox and today I am sharing some cute holiday ornaments for CutCardStock.

These turned out so cute, I may need to make more!

Create the Base

Use a coordinating die and embossing folder to create the wooden blocks. I used an older Sizzix set. Start by die cutting the wood circles using Twine Kraft Cardstock. It is the perfect wood slice color. Next add a dark brown ink to the positive side of the coordinating embossing folder. Carefully line up the die cut piece with the embossing folder and run through your die cut machine.

Create the Embellishment Pieces

Select a stamp set with pieces small enough to fit on the wood slice without covering all the ring details. I used a set from Stampers Anonymous. I knew I would be using watercolors to color the pieces, so I chose a lighter grey ink to stamp the images with. Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock has proven itself to be a good base for watery ink techniques as well as letterpress techniques.

After stamping the images, use your favorite watercolors to add color to all of the die cuts. I used Kuretake Tambai Gansai watercolors as I like to have a variety of choices. Use a small brush to color in the sections of the die cuts.

Stamp additional evergreen branches in green to add interest to the ornaments

Assemble the Holiday Ornaments

Die cut a second wood slice for each ornament. Match the sides and glue together. For the ornament and the stocking ornament, add a few evergreen branches to the wood base. Use foam tape to pop up the ornament pieces. For the car with the tree on top add foam tape to them as well.

Punch a hole in the top and add twine, ribbon or cording of your choice.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope I have inspired you to start on your holiday makes. Be sure to check out all the great cardstock and other items at CutCardStock.
