Interactive Mixed Media Holiday Card

Hello friends! I am getting in the holiday mood. How about you? Today I am sharing an interactive card for CutCardStock using a mixed media technique!

I am loving the vintage vibe! I was inspired by Aveereneecarddesigns.

Create the Evergreen Boughs

Let your watercolors get loose with this fun technique! Start with Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock. Choose your holiday stamp. I used Stampers Anonymous Winter Watercolor Stamp. Distress Watercolor Pencils are perfect for this technique. I choose a holiday green, red and brown to color the stamp. Dip the pencil in water to soften and release the pigment. Color the coordinating area of the stamp. Once you are finished, spritz the stamp with water and stamp. Spritz again to get a second-generation stamping. Add more color is needed and stamp six images. Once dry, die cut with coordinating die or fussy cut the images.

I love the messy watercolor look this technique creates! Once dry, add glitter to make the leaves and berries sparkle!

Create the Interactive Card Base

You will need one piece of Environment Desert Storm Cardstock to make the card base. Trim the cardstock so you have one 5.5 x 8.5 inches plus two 4.25 x 5.5 inch pieces. Score the large piece to create an A2 card base.

Line one A2 piece with the coordinating from on the larger piece. Tape at the top and bottom. Select a square die that will leave at least a 3/4 inch border. Run this set through your die cutting machine until both pieces are cut. Untape this set and tape the second A2 piece to the die cut piece with the opening on top. Fit the die back in and cut.

Score the front panel with the opening at 2 1/8 inches, fold back and score. Glue the two frames together and attach to the folded panel to create a Z card with an opening.

Create the Inside Panel

Use another piece of Kraft cardstock cut to A2 size. Select a background stamp. Using the watercolor technique with the pencils, color the background, spritz and stamp.

Once dry, use embossing ink and glitter embossing powder to stamp the sentiment of your choice.

It is a little hard to capture the sentiment in photos but trust me it is stunning in real life!

Assemble the Card

Attach the stamped A2 base to the inside of the card.

Use the berry bough cut outs and arrange at the bottom left and upper right of the frame. Glue in place and trim the edges. Add an extra bough inside.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are getting ready to celebrate the holidays! Be sure to stop by CutCardStock and check out the amazing array of products!
