Blackout Technique Two Ways

Greetings Crafty Peeps! I have been watching posts for the Blackout Technique and decided to give it a try. Here I present two cards, same embossing folder, one an embossed image, the other a debossed image. Can you tell the difference?

I thought the very bright colors on Altenew's May Inspiration Challenge lent themselves well to this technique.

The first card is the embossed image. Start with 80 lb. White Cougar and emboss the image with the Bold Bouquet Embossing Folder. Use blending tools to color the image with Altenew's Tickled Pink, Tangerine Dream and Parrot inks.

Once the image is complete, run a black ink pad over the flat side of the folder. Line the image up with the other side and run through your machine again to color the background. Use a heat toll to dry completely before trimming to an A2 size panel.

Here is the debossed image. It is hard to tell the difference other than the blooms are reversed.

The process is the same for the debossed image.

The only difference is because you are working with a debossed image, you can run the black inkpad directly over the entire image. It is a little difficult to keep the black out of the debossed areas, but I think it adds interest!
