Greeting Crafty Friends. I am so excited to be a guest on the Altenew Mixed Media Blog. I started my journey with Altenew making only cards. Lately, my creative journey has encompassed Mixed Media type of projects as well. I designed this decorator board using a variety of layering dies.
I have collected a large number of Altenew Floral Dies and
found this project perfect to showcase them!
I invite you to watch the YouTube video on my channel here:
or review this entire post for creative ideas for your own Mixed Media board.
The project started with a 16 x 20 wooden art board. I used
Grey acrylic paint on the entire base. Once dry, I used the Floral Mandala
Stencil with Altenew’s White Embossing paste to start the base layer.
The Mandala is placed at two opposite corners allowing room
for the large spray of flowers in the center.
Many white leaf sprays were cut using the Leaf Cluster Die. I used Ranger Distress Collage Medium to
attach the leaf sprays in layers, making sure they spread across the entire
width of the board.
I used a few different floral dies to create this variety of
blooms to use in the center. The dies include: Watercolor Garden set, Open Bloom,
Peony Dream, Fantasy Floral, and the Craft a Flower Lily. I was so happy with the variety I was able to
create by simply changing up the colored cardstocks. Matching watercolor
splatters really set the flowers apart!
Once the base layer of the White leaves was complete, I
began layering the die cut flowers in a spray running almost from the top to
the bottom of the board.
Check out the variety of floral images I was able to layer
to really make this piece pop. The Peony
Dreams Flower is popped up with foam tape for additional dimension.
I hope you enjoyed my project. I’d love to see your Mixed
Media Décor projects!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
