Hello friends. It is Teri with TerisMailbox posting for CutCardStock. Check out this colorful card that started with a colored cardstock. It is amazing the depth of colors you can achieve when you begin with a light-colored cardstock base!

Create the Focal Images on Colored Cardstock
Start with a sheet of Basis Light Yellow Cardstock. Stamp the floral image using a crisp black ink. Be sure the ink outline is completely dry before moving on. I used Altenew's Beauty Within Stamp set that has a coordinating stencil set.

Use the coordinating stencils and blend colors of your choice to create the depth and texture on the images. I used Altenew Inks because they organize their inks in families, making it super easy to choose colors!

Once the ink is dry, die cut or fussy cut the images so you are ready to design!
How About Colored Strips for the Background?
The card needed a pop of color or texture in the background. I went for color! Use an A2 sized piece of 80 lb. White Cougar Cardstock. Choose two of the colors you used for the flowers and leaves. Rub the ink pad directly onto the cardstock being sure to get consistent colors. The direct to paper technique allows more saturation when compared to ink blending with a tool.
Trim the piece into strips on the long side. Mine are about 1/2 inch.
Let's Put the Card Together!
Trim a piece of 80 lb. White Cougar Cardstock to 4.0 x 5.25 inches. Arrange the colored strips at an angle over the center of the panel. Once you are happy with the arrangement, attach the strips to the panel.
Add a stamped sentiment of your choice in the bottom left corner of the panel.

Arrange the blooms and leaves over the stripes. You can add more interest by popping up the smaller bloom using foam tape!
Attach the smaller panel to the front of an A2 card base made with 110 lb. Cougar Cardstock. I love this heavier cardstock as it provides a substantial base for your cards! The Lemon Drop Pop -Tone Envelope is perfect to set off the colors!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will try ink blending your next project starting with a light colored base! Be sure to stop by CutCardstock and check out the wide variety of cardstock available!
Be Well. Be Creative my friends.
