Foiling on Watercolor Backgrounds

Hello! I am back sharing this fun technique involving foiling and water color backgrounds using new foil plates that are part of @altenewllc September Release! There are stencils and dies as well, but I chose to only use the Foiling Plates.

Create the Galaxy Background

Use the Altenew 36 Pan Watercolor Set to add deep galaxy colors to watercolor cardstock. Start by adding splotches of brighter colors like turquoise and purple randomly. You will need to add layers of color to get the dimension. Allow to dry somewhat or use a heat tool to speed the process.

Add deep blues or even some black around the perimeter of the cardstock, going over some of the bright areas. Leave lighter sections in the middle. Allow the panel to dry. Splatters of white and silver acrylic paint add interest.

I was able to create both a slimline and an A2 version of the card.

Foil the Stars and the Sentiment

Line the stars foil plate overlapping the edges of the galaxy bases. Use silver foil and your foiling machine as directed. After completing the stars, line a sentiment up near the opposite edge and foil that as well. Falling Stars Hot Foil Plate: Affiliate Link: https://shrsl.com/47aay.

I was amazed and excited when I pulled back the foil to reveal the multitude of bright stars!

Assemble the Cards

Trim the A2 panel to 3.75 x 5.0 inches. add that panel to a panel of Star Dream Metallic Silver Cardstock cut to 4 x 5.25 inches. Mount the double panel to an A2 card base.

Trim the other galaxy base to 3.25 x 6.0 for a mini slimline card. I use 6.26 x 7.0 for the card base, allowing a final card of 3.5 x 6.25 inches. Trim another piece of the Star Dream Metallic to 3.5 x 6.25. Attach the watercolor panel to the silver panel and then on the Slimline base.
