Vintage Coffee Decor Piece with Many Fun Die Cuts

Hello friends! It's Teri with TerisMailbox posting for The Funkie Junkie Boutique. The Tag Team Challenge was to use at least 2 tags in your make! I created this fun decor pieces using 4 tags! We have a wonderful local coffee shop called Ghostlight Coffee, and I will be presenting this tag to Shane the owner soon!

This make was totally inspired by Juliana Michaels.
There is a You Tube Video available HERE if you prefer to watch the process.

Start with the Large Tag Base

Cut a piece of Mixed Media Heavy Stock to fit the tag. You will have a gap at the top of the tag. Ink Smoosh (my fav technique) the base with Vintage Photo and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks. Once dry, use THS 009 Coffee Splat Stencil to add coffee rings using Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks.

Stitch around the perimeter with a dark brown thread. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Create the Smaller Tags

Using a Kraft Cardstock, die cut three tags, two smaller and one larger tag using the Tag Collection Die set. This is one of my most used dies! Ink smoosh with Vintage Photo Ink, heat dry and stitch around the edges with Brown Thread.

Do all the die cutting and assembly at once!

The Gentlemen Dies from Sizzix provided male figures that are the perfect size. Die Cut from a heavy brown textured cardstock reversing the image for the second die cut so they can hold the lightbulb.

Cut all five coffee cups in two color families. I used a green and orange family from my Tim Holtz scrap box. Glue all the pieces together in older and set aside. In the future, I will use my small Xyron to make sticker paper prior to cutting any small dies. So much easier to assemble! You will also need two additional cups for the tags.

Cut the coat lapels shirt and hat using the Sizzix Tailored Die Set. This set will be used on the larger tag at the top with a lightbulb.

The light bulbs are from an oldie but goodie called Robotics Die set from Sizzix. I used a Cougar Natural for the base and a Gold Metallic Cardstock for the filament and base from the Ideology Metallics Classic Cardstock. Cut two 1/4 inch strips from the Copper Cardstock for the trim.

Last Die Cut Set! Use the Alphanumeric Alphabet Die to cut words of your choice. I used Brown Textured Cardstock from my stash. Make sticker paper first by running stripes through the Xyron and then cutting the letters.

Assemble the Final Tag

Use Collage Medium and a Collage Brush to attach the inked base to the Medium Etcetera Tag. Roll a brayer over the entire tag to be sure it is adhered well. Flip it over and allow to dry.

Once dry, assemble the complete tag. Line the letters up on the bottom third of the Medium Etcetera Tag to assure there is enough space.

Attach the gentlemen in the middle third with Collage Medium. Add form tape to one of the lightbulbs and attach between the two gentlemen as if they were holding it.

Attach the coffee cups to the right and left side by the gentlemen. Add the copper strip so the men are standing on it. Add the letters below, followed by the second copper strip.

Finish the small tags by adding single cups to the smaller tags, and the lightbulb, hat and coat lapel to the larger tag. Glue them in place at the top, angled so the gentlemen and lightbulb appear. Use twine to make a bow and tie it to the opening at the top!
