Two Layer Vellum Window Card

Hello Craft Friends! Today I'm showing you how to make a Pop-up Vellum Window Card for CutCardStock. I was inspired by @LaurieBlanchardPatterson who posted the idea in the Altenew Fan group.

Check out all the dimension and the shadow images behind the vellum window.

Create the Inside Panel

Trim a piece of watercolor cardstock to 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Dry emboss the cardstock. I used the Always Sunshine set from Altenew. Watercolor the images in your choice of colors. I used Altenew's Lava Rock and Fresh Leaf inks from the Tropical Fiesta set.

Trim the panel to slightly less than 4.25 x 5.5 to allow some wiggle room.

Create the Vellum Window

Trim a piece of vellum to 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Stamp the main floral bloom from Always Sunshine onto the vellum and coat with Clear Embossing Powder. Melt the powder with an embossing tool. Be sure to move the tool around so you don't burn the vellum.

Color the image with alcohol markers of your choice. Set the panel aside.

Create the Pop-up Window

Cut a piece of Cougar 100 lb white cardstock to 6.5 x 5.5 inches. Starting at the left side, score at 1/2, 1/4 and 1/4 inches. Score again at 5 1/4 inches. Turn the cards tock and score the second side at 1/2, 1/4 and 1/4 inches. The 1/4 inch scores allow you to create a Z fold with the 1/2 inch section to attach to the cardbase.

Use a rectangle die to cut the window. I used Hero Arts Nesting Rectagle Die set.

Create the Gold Frame

Trim a piece of Gold Cardstock to 4.25 x 5.5 inches. Line the window on the Cougar Cardstock and use the same die to cut a window in the gold cardstock.

Assemble the Card

Fold the Z shape on each side of the white window panel. Use red line tape to attach the left side of the window panel to an A2 card base. Attach the left side of the embossed watercolor piece on top of the left 1/2 inch Z fold base. Add red line tape to the Right 1/2 inch section of the Z fold. Add adhesive to the right back section of the embossed piece and attach it on top of the 1/2 inch fold section. Pull the red tape and attach the card base.

You will end up with the pop-up section attached to the card base.

Add the Vellum Window and Gold Frame

Use the gold frame to select the section of the vellum image you want to appear in the frame. Create a lever by taping the top of the frame to the vellum piece. This will allow for easy trimming of the vellum to the exact size. After trimming, Attach the frame to the vellum piece and then to the card base, lining up the outside edges.

The last step is to cut the sentiment with Black Licorice CardStock. I used Altenew's Essential Sentiments for mine. Glue on the gold frame allowing the color to show through.
