Hello friends. I'm posting for CutCardStock. Today I am showcasing a Vellum base card inspired by Jennifer McGuire using 105 lb. Heavyweight Translucent Vellum and Lagoon Stardream Metallic Cardstock.
Create the Vellum Card Base
Cut the Heavyweight Vellum to 4.25 x 8.5 inches for a top folding card. Score at 5.5 inches.
Select an embossing folder and insert only half of the card base and run through your die cutting machine of choice.
Use an Archival Ink and swipe across the top of the raised embossed edges and set aside to dry. Pigment or Dye inks would not adhere well to the Vellum.
Create the Focal Point and Sentiment
Cut and emboss the large snowflake from Cougar 110 lb. White Cardstock. I used the Bigz snowflake die from Sizzix. Cut 3 additional large snowflakes to add to the inside and back of the card. Add color by swiping the coordinating color of ink across the raised image.
Cut the sentiment shadow from Lagoon Stardream Metallic. Cut the sentiment using Stardream Metallic Crystal Cardstock
Assemble the Card
Center the inked Snowflake on the card front and attach. Open the card and attach a plain snowflake behind the inked one, matching the edges. Insert another white snowflake on the inside of the card and attach after matching the edges. Last white snowflake goes on the back of the card base.
Center the white sentiment on the Lagon Shadow and glue in place. Attach the sentiment to the card front.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
Envelope flaps can be a little tricky. I inserted the flap into the same embossing folder and wrapped the envelope base around the bottom of the folder and ran it through the die cutting machine. I used the same ink to swipe across the base of the flap after masking the envelope base. Notice it is the base that is inked instead of the raised images.
I hope you have enjoyed observing the card process today.
