Hello friends, I am posting for the The Funky Junkie Boutique. The current challenge is a musical themed project. Check out the post on the blog for deets.
The patriotic music themed Etcetera Tag is the perfect addition for our home decor!
I have a video HERE if you prefer to watch that.
Start by die cutting all the additional pieces from flag appropriate colored cardstock. The flag and paper stars are from an older Tim Holtz Die #657483 The Bigz Old Glory Die. Using Distress Foundry Wax in Statue, add to the flagpole and the stars. Use your heat tool to melt the wax. Also use the wax on a few Ideology Metal Stars.
Use Prize Ribbon Embossing Glaze and an Embossing Ink Dauber to coat the Quote Chip. After heat drying, add the Statue Foundry Wax around the edges and heat.
Prepare the tag base by embossing stars using the Dauber, embossing powder and Foundry Wax. You can barely see the stars at the bottom done with a bronze embossing powder from my stash, but the ones at the top done with Statue Wax really pop!
Use Distress Crayons to color the schoolgirl with red and blue crayons of your choice. This paper doll has been in my box of dolls and was colored a while ago, so I cannot name the colors.
Once you have prepared all the pieces, it is time to assemble the tag. Tear the music sheet at an angle and ink blend Vintage Photo around the edges. Using Collage Medium, apply it to the back of the pages and apply to the tag leaving the song title showing. The edges will hang off the edge, but you will finish them later.
Next layer the flag, the paperdoll, the paper stars and the quote on the tag. Be sure to get a good coat of Collage Medium on the tag to seal it.

Select a few labels from the Field Notes Ephemera set and apply. Attach the metal stars and allow the tag to dry.
Once dry, tear the sheet music at the edges and use a sanding block to smooth. Make a bow from ribbon or twine and attach.

Lovely tag! The layering of the red white and blue with the music and the memorial day theme is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh, Teri, how I love this patriotic tag! Makes me wish I had that Old Glory die; what a great job you did on that flag and I am swooning over your patriotic Paper Doll. Would have loved to be a butterfly on your craft room wall when you created her! My newest favorite from you!
