Layered Vintage Valentine Tag

Greetings friends! I am posting this very vintage Etcetera tag for The Funkie Junkie Boutique. We have a new challenge up - Funky Frilly Valentines. Check out the blog Here for deets.

Lots of fun going on here tied together by magenta and Victorian Velvet colors. Victorian Velvet is not one of my go-to colors, but I loved the way it off sets the Magenta.

I started by creating all the various components for this tag. The typewriter is from an older Bigz die - Retro Type. I cut the base from black cardstock, the top from a metallic looking cardstock and added the magenta piece to color the keys.

The three hearts are cut using the Lucky Love Impresslit on magenta cardstock. After die cutting, I coated the hearts with the Embossing Dauber and added Kitch Flamingo Embossing Glaze. The glaze is so much fun to add shine to your projects. A Gold Distress Crayon rubbed on top and brushed in highlights the flowers and cracks on the surface.

The paper dolls couple was enhanced by painting with various colors of Distress Crayons. The love die is cut with the grey and magenta cardstocks from my stash. Once I had created all the pieces, it was time to work on the background.

Starting with a piece of Cougar Cardstock, I ink blended over the heart stencil. I started with Spun Sugar, moved to Kitch Flamingo and finally ended with Velvet Distress ink. Check out the video. After blending the piece, I measured, cut and used Collage Medium to attach to the Etcetera Tag. I also added a Journal Card for interest. I used Black Soot Distress ink to ink up the edges of the tag.

Last step was to add the hearts, typewriter, paper dolls and the sentiment framed by a doily folded in half.

I have a video documenting the entire process HERE.
