Easy Inked and Embossed Backgrounds

 Hello friends. It's Teri from TerisMailbox posting for Inspiration Avenue Blog by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. Our new challenge was to finish unfinished projects.

I created new cards using embossed and inked backgrounds I created a while ago.

I started with multiple backgrounds embossed using watercolor cardstock and spritzed with many colors of Distress Spray Stains.

I added depth and dimension using a brayer and applying Archival Inks in Black Soot and Vintage Photo.

I am sharing 10 unique cards all with the same background technique, embellished with various die cuts and sentiments.

I think these may be my favorites. I love the bright colors and the cupcake has an action wobbler for fun!

Embossing folders used: Foilage and Numbered. The card on the left is embellished with a Skeleton Leaves Die using brown cardstock. Cut three leaves and arrange on the Foliage background mounted on a Kraft A2 card base. Tie a small piece of twine and add a drop of Collage Medium to hold in place. Stamp a sentiment from the Noteworthy CMS 446 stamp set on Kraft. Use a ruler and tear the sides. Attach to the card.

The Birthday Card is embellished with a cupcake from a Blueprint stamp and die set from my stash colored with Distress Watercolor Pencils. Attach to the card front using an Action Wobbler.

Select a couple of sentiments from Small Talk and glue onto additional strips of cardstock. Attach to the card front. Use Glossy Accents to highlight the strips. Set aside to dry.

I love rainbow and bright colors for cards! The card on the left uses the Typewrite Embossing Folder.  Use City Scapes #661810 die to cut a few sections from black cardstock. attach a couple of city blocks to the base.  Add thin strips of foam tape top pop up the city block on top.

Die cut a sentiment using the Pondering Words die set. Add thin foam tape to pop up the sentiment.

The center purple card uses the Swirl Texture Fade Embossing folder for the base. The flower is cut using the Wildflower Die #664163. This is an older die. The new Wildflower Set would work as well. Die cut the sentiment using glossy black cardstock with Bold Text #2. Glue the flower on the front and pop up the sentiment using thin foam strips. So easy!

The rainbow card on the right is embossed with the Arched Texture Fade. Cut the window with the Cathedral Window Bigz Die from Black Cardstock. Cut a gentleman with black cardstock. Attach the pieces to the front. Add a sentiment from the Thoughts Label Stickers to finish the card.

Here are two cards that would be perfect for that man in your life!  The one on the left started with the Gears Texture Fade Folder. Use the Gearhead Thinlits to die cut the corner embellishment along with additional gears. Stamp and emboss a sentiment from the Noteworthy CMS 446 stamp set. Use a ruler to tear the edges and ink with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

The forest scene starts with the Acorn 3D Texture Fade Folder. The trees are cut from brown cards stock using an older Holtz Sizzix Die called Birch Tree. Trim a section of the trees so you have trees on the left side. Pop up with this foam tape. Cut the Darling Deers from Kraft Cardstock. Arrange the deer on the front of the card as add a Label Sticker.

The final set uses some warmer colors to create the backgrounds. The card on the left started with the Doily 3D Texture Fade Folder another of my favorites. Die cut the flowers using Flower Field Die from Sizzix. Stamp and emboss a sentiment using the Note Quotes Sentiment Set CMS 463.

The center card started with Kaleidescope Texture Fade Folder. Cut the Perspective Butterfly with brown cardstock and apply to the base using Collage Medium. I find Collage Medium works well when attaching an image to a textured base. Create another sentiment using Note Quotes Sentiment Set CMS 463 and die cut with a circle die.

The final card starts with the Swirl Texture Fade. Die cut the flowers using the Artsy Stems Die. Arrange three blooms on the card front. Select a Small Talk Sentiment, add a couple of cardstock strips and attach to the card front. Coat with Glossy Accents and set aside to dry.
