Letter Press with Hot Foil Plates

Hi friends and welcome back. Today I am posting another fun set of cards made for the Altenew July Marvelous Monthly Release! Too much fun on this one! I decided to do a letterpress technique using the Spark Joy: Potted Succulent set. I am using the foil plate with stencils, along with the add on die.

Check out all these great colors and the dimension on the card to the right.

Here is the product image from Altenew.

Start with watercolor cardstock. Center the succulent foil plate face down in the upper section of the A2 watercolor panel. Use the latex panel as part of the sandwich to all the plate to leave an imprint.

Use these Fresh Ink Dies to add corresponding color through the stencils: Eucalyptus, Silver Sage, Jade from the Frosted Foilage set. Use Navy from the Deco Garden set for the pot. Grape Agate ink is perfect for the tips of the leaves.

Carefully ink the sentiment Thanks with Navy ink and place in the lower left area of the panel. Run through your die cutting machine using the same sandwich to impress the image.

Trim the panel to 3 3/4 x 5 inch and attach to a dark purple panel that is 4.0 x 5.25. Attach to an A2 card base.

Card number 2 is stenciled with the exact same ink colors and die cut for a different look.

Once stenciled, die cut the pot, and stack two more die cuts to add dimension.

Hot foil the word Thanks and die cut with the coordinating die. Stack two more die cuts under the foiled sentiment.

Trim a watercolor panel to 4.0 x 5.25 inches. Use a wide paintbrush to dilute Purple Agate Ink on the craft mat. Run a line from the bottom left to the upper right corner, keeping the line straight.

Clean the brush and do the same with the Navy Fresh ink and run a second line from the bottom to the right side about 3/4 of an inch away.

Clean the brush and use one of the lighter greens to do the same about 3/4 of an inch above the Grape Agate line.

Finally use one of the darker greens to repeat at the upper left and lower right corners.

Attach the panel to an A2 card base. Use a gold acrylic paint to splatter the base. Once dry, add the sentiment and the potted succulent.
