Embossing Folder with Gelli Plate Backgrounds from Altenew

This new release from Altenew is amazing! Join us for the July 2022 Summer Love Release Blog Hop. The hop starts here. To see all the cards I created for this release click here.

I decided to pull out my Gelli Plate and experiment with colors and embossing folders.

Two of these cards started with the Gelli plate, and the third is created using the cardstock the brayer was cleaned off on! Folder used is the Jungle Leaves Folder - so very cool!

After inking the Gelli plate by stamping the ink cubes on it randomly, use a brayer to blend and smooth the inks. After each pass, roll the brayer over a piece of cardstock on the side. Colors used are Parrot, Bamboo, Olive and Moss inks from the Tropical Forest Ink Cube Set.

Open the Jungle Leaves Embossing folder and press the side with the raised leaves onto the Gelli Plate. Inserting a piece of Cougar 100 lb cardstock and run through a die cut machine.

A leaf impression is left on the Gelli Plate so place another piece of white cardstock on top and gently rub it to transfer the remaining ink from the Gelli plate. Check out the second card posted here to see what to do with the print.

Here are the three backgrounds I created. The lower left is the original made by pressing the raised leaf side onto the ink Gelli plate. The top piece is created from the leftover ink on the Gelli plate. The lower right is the brayer rolling onto a clean piece of cardstock. I ended up using this one to cut the word Happy from the Mega Greetings 2 on the third card!

Trim the embossed panel to 3.75 x 5.0 inches and mount on a piece of Olive Cardstock cut to 4.0 x 5.25. Mount this panel on an A2 card base.

Cut the Hello from the Tiny Semtiments Hello die both in Olive and Black Licorice Cardstock. Glue them together slightly offset so the black baking shows. Stamp a tiny sentiment on the bar section of the die cut and attach to the card.

Trim the printed cardstock to 4.25 x 5.5 inches and mount on an A2 card base.

Using Altenew's Enchanted Gold Pigment ink, drag the ink pad over the embossing folder side with the raised lines. You will repeat this process with both an Olive piece of cardstock and Vellum.

Selectively cut the whole leaves out and arrange on the card front.

Die cut the Olive cardstock in the word of your choice. You will need 2 die cuts for each letter. I used Hello from the Tall Apha Set. After gluing them together, line them up using a grid and tape the top half with Post-It tape. This will make it easier to emboss the lower area with gold embossing powder.

The leaves are inked using the Parrot and Olive ink cubes from the Tropical Forest Ink Cube Set on the raised leaf side. After running Classic Crest Cardstock through the Die cut machine in the folder, trim the panel to 4.0 by 5.25 inches and mount on an A2 size black panel. Mount this on an A2 cardbase.

Die Cut the word Happy using the Mega Greeting 2 set from the brayered panel, Olive and Black Licorice Cardstock. Emboss the brayered panel using the Jungle Leaf folder. Glue the sentiments together in the following order: Black on the bottom, Olive in the middle and the brayered piece on top. Glue to the cardbase.

The last step is to white heat emboss the word Birthday from the Mega Greeting set on a black strip and attach over the lower end of the word Happy.
