Hello friends! I'm posting today for The Funkie Junkie Boutique's Challenge Skotch It Is. All the deets are over on their blog HERE. You could be the next Guest designer!
It's Christmas in July and this challenge came at just the right time! I love making these decor pieces to display in December!
I do have a YouTube video here:
The link is here in case the video isn't showing: https://youtu.be/u-PkFf9fG1M.
I started the design with the Sizzix Simple Plaid Die. I cut it twice with Cougar 80 lb. Natural Cardstock. After die cutting, I dipped it in Vintage Photo Ink on my craft mat to age it.
The background is Ranger Distress Watercolor Paper that is trimmed to the size of the Small Etcetera Tag. I smooshed Rustic Wilderness and Peeled Pain Inks onto the craft mat and smooshed the watercolor paper into the mix, added some water and dried it until I was happy with the color. I ended up using THS 015 to add more dimension to the background by ink blending with Rustic Wilderness Inks
After gluing the plaid pieces to the distressed base, I stitched around the perimeter with red thread. I love adding this little bit of interest! I used Collage Medium to attach the panel to the tag.
Now it is time to make the Santa for the scene! I used the Santa Colorize Die #664198 to create the Jolly Santa with multiple colors of red cardstock and glitter cardstock. He is just too cute!
The slide frame is from the Christmas Noel Baseboards. I love the little girls face! Her photo is from the Photo Booth set.
The next main piece is the snowy tree. I used one of the Ideology Woodland Trees, sprayed with Rustic Wilderness ink spray. The snow is both Snowy Grit paste and Collage Medium and Mica Flakes. The string of lights adds the perfect touch. I drilled a hole in the base and threaded the lights through.
I created the December 24 tag using a stamp from the Vintage Holiday stamp on Royal Sundance Kraft Cardstock. The label is created using the Vintage Label Die Set with Red Barn Archival Ink. I plan to use this set much more in the future!
The last step was to assemble the tag with Collage Medium. The decor pieces are from the Christmas Noel Baseboards and Ephemera sets. I selected colorful pieces to add to the tag.
