Make your cards sparkle with Stardream Metallic Cardstock

Have you tried using Stardream Metallic for your cardbases?  Today I am sharing two cards, same cardbases, different embellishment cardstock for CutCardStock.

See the difference between ink smooshed Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock and Stardream Metallic Cardstock for the inserts.

Create the Ink Smooshed Base

Start with a 5.5 x 8.5 inch piece of Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock. Press a few Distress Ink colors onto a craft mat. I kept to reds (Lumberjack Plaid and Festive Berries. Spritz with water and run your fingertips through to break up the color. Spritz the cardstock and press half of the cardstock into the ink and move slightly. Use a heat tool to dry and continue dipping and drying until you are happy with the results. Repeat the process using Rustic Wilderness and Mowed Lawn for the leaves. You need less than half for the green.

Prepare the Bases and Backgrounds

Trim an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of Silver Stardream Metallic Cardstock into four A 2 card bases. Use Sizzix Poinsettia Pieces Die to cut the windows. Line the bloom die up in the lower right corner and run through your die cut machine. Cut two of these bases, one for the ink smooshed panel and one to use Red and Green Stardream Metallic Cardstock.

Use the die pieces to trace the cutting patterns onto the ink smooshed panel plus Jupiter and Fairway Stardream Metallic Cardstocks. The Jupiter is a gorgeous Red Cardstock, perfect for your holiday crafting! Fussy cut the pieces, checking to be sure they will fit behind the open windows.

Die cut a sentiment of choice from both the red Stardream Metallic and Ink Smooshed Savoy Cardstocks. I used and older Tim Holtz Sizzix Die.

Assemble the Cards

Glue the coordinating red and green pieces to the back side of the Silver Stardream Metallic panels. Attach these to A2 card bases made with 110 lb. White Cougar Cardstock. This is my favorite cardstock for bases as it creates a substantial base. I cut and crease my own card bases.

Glue the sentiment of choice onto the upper left section of the card.

Isn’t it interesting how the two different cardstocks create such unique appearances? I am not sure which I love more.
