Ink Smooshed Layered Floral Card: Altenew Craft A Flower Garden Rose

 Hello friends. I am back again with my favorite ink smooshing technique to achieve a unique color combination for this this Altenew Build a Flower Garden Rose. I am participating in the July 2022 Marvelous Monthly Series Blog Hop. The hop starts here.

I started by ink smooshing Frayed Leaf and Forest Glade and Evergreen inks from the Green Fields Ink Family I used watercolor paper to take advantage of all the texture. I needed some light and dark areas, so I focused on achieving that look. 

The first step is to smoosh the ink pads randomly on a craft mat and add a spritz of water. I always run my fingers through the inks to blend them slightly. After dipping and drying multiple times, I was happy with the results.

For the flower petals, I used Altenew Inks from the Sugar Plum Ink Family These inks are muted and have a vintage feel to them. 

I used the Mega Stamp Frame Die set to cut two frames from Classic Crest Cardstock, that I glued together. I found a muted purple and grey cardstock from my stash that I trimmed to make the smaller panels.

Last step was to assemble the flower. These dies are great as they have a numbered keyhole on each die for the correct order in assembly as well as ease of lining up the pieces!  I had a scarp piece of watercolor paper already colored with Pumpkin Pie ink from the Fall Harvest set, perfect for the flower center.

The stem is tucked behind the lower frame. I curled the petals using a rounded tool and popped the center up with foam tape. Essential Sentiments Die had the Happy Birthday!
