Create a Fun Layered Cactus Birthday Card

Hello friends, today I am sharing a fun Layered Cactus Birthday card for CutCardStock created using many of their fun cardstocks.

Create the Base

Have you ever tried Savoy 100% Cotton Cardstock? It has a wonderful texture and can be used for water coloring! Ink blend Vintage Photo, Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick Distress inks on a 5 x 6.5 inch piece of Savoy Cotton. Add a few water splatters and let dry.

Create the Die Cut Images

Using Concord and 9th’s Stuck on you Cactus Die Set, cut all the cactus and pots.

Use Royal Sundance Kraft Cardstock for the pot and Pop Tone Blue Raspberry for the cute zig zag embellishment.

Lessebo Moss is a perfect shade for the standing cactus and Stardream Metallic Fairway is great for the potted Cactus.

Pop Tone Razzleberry is perfect for the small cactus flowers.

Assemble the Layered Cactus Images

Use Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add color to the edges of the pat, cactus and the flowers. Attach the Moss Green standing cactus to the right side of the Savoy card base. Glue the Blue Raspberry Zig Zag to the Kraft pot. Use red adhesive tape to pop up the Karat pot. Add the round cactus. Add the flowers randomly on the standing cactus.

Create the Card Base

I cut and score my own card bases using Cougar 110 lb. cardstock. I love weight of this cardstock for card bases. Cut a piece of the cardstock 10 x 6.5 inches and score in the center to create a 5 x 6.5 inch card.

Add the finishing touches

Use Black Gesso to add splatter all over the card front for interest. Create your sentiment strips using Black Licorice Cardstock. I used Altenew’s One Go Birthday set embossed in white for the sample.
