Formal Mixed Media Decor Piece

Hello friends. I'm up on the Altenew Mixed Media Blog today presenting this Elegant Formal Mixed Media piece using Altenew products!

I have a video here if you'd prefer to watch the process:

Here's the link in case the video isn't showing: https://youtu.be/YIzF0LBxM7c

The base is a piece of acrylic from the hardware store. I had them cut pieces measuring 8 x 10 inches. These make wonderful bases for photos as well! I drilled the two holes in the top to add a piece of ribbon.

Lately Altenew has been using a gorgeous black tissue printed with gold flowers. I tore some large pieces and attached to the acrylic with Collage Medium.

The Floral Mandala Stencil provided a great accent to the lower right section of the panel. Altenew's Embossing Paste is the perfect texture for accents. I applied the paste with the Altenew Palette Knife. I covered with Gold Embossing Powder and heat set. Be Careful not to leave your heat tool in one place for long as it will warp the base!

Next step is to decorate the base. Altenew's Golden Strokes Washi Tape added another great dimension. I applied the tape randomly over the background.

The Rose Filament Die in black and gold adds a wonderful focal point to the project. I used Gold Currency Cardstock from CutCardStock to cut the outline of the roses. I decided the gold needed a contrast and glued the roses onto Black Licorice Cardstock before fussy cutting the edges.

I layered the You are Loved Die cut by using both the Gold Currency and Black Cardstock. By offsetting the black slightly, it really brings the gold sentiment to life!

A few Black Enamel Dots and the Gold Ribbon as a hanger really sets the piece off.
