Back to School with Elementary Elements

 Greetings Friends. Can you believe another school year is about to begin? Today I am posting for TaylorMadeCards4U. I love the variety of vintage digital ephemera offered in the shop! Today's post features The Passport to School kit.

Today you will see the slimline card on the left and the upper card with the ruler frame. The other two will be posted on September 15th.

We'll start with this fun classroom scene. There are many layers on this card. I started by cutting the ruler frame from some Tim Holtz Cardstock in my stash.  The Schoolroom image is printed on cream cardstock and inked to add age. I used Ranger's Vintage Photo Distress ink to do this.

The rulers are from one of the tags in the kit that I enlarged to be almost A2 size.  The small spelling book on the left is a seperate image called Spelling Book.  

I picked up the antique child's book used in the background at a local shop recently. I found a short poem that I thought was appropriate for this card front. I crumpled and inked it prior to adding to the front.

The second card is a slimline card focused on teachers.

I just love the antique layers created when you use multiple ephemera pieces. Two of the pieces I selected had blue in them, so I went with a Kraft Base edged in Weathered Wood Distress ink.

Layer number one is a piece of paper that looks like binder paper. I aged it with Vintage photo ink.

The diploma and the blue certificate are both from the kit aged by crumpling and adding inks.

Another poem from the book starts off the waterfall of pieces, followed by the Blue Certificate from the kit. I really love the sentiment about teachers. The blue lettering is perfect for the theme of this card.

I thought this gentleman looked like a teacher. He is cut from one of the tags, inked with Vintage Photo ink and popped up with a few layers of cardstock. Check out the bell on his desk.  This is cut from another tag in the kit and spritzed with Tarnished Brass Mica Spray.

Last piece in the line up is the diploma, aged as well by crumpling and inking.
