Time Saving Stamping and Die Cutting

Greetings Stamping Friends! I purchased the Hero Arts 2021 April kit of the month after I saw the cool geometric animals and stencils!

I realized that a cool timesaver would be to keep most of the dies together and arrange the stamps to fit in the openings!

The first thing I did was to cut and remove the smaller images that were attached inside the larger dies.  This allowed me to create a stamping template.

The next step was to arrange the well loved stamps to coordinate with these openings in one of my Misti Stamping Platforms.

Once the stamps were arranged, I was off to the races! I die cut several sheets of the shapes ahead of time. When ready to stamp, all you have to do is match up the shapes within the template, ink the stamps and stamp away.

Once stamped, the images a already die cut and ready to go!

I used the coordinating stencils to create a few backgrounds. Here are two of the cards I created!

I will use this technique in the future to save time stamping and cutting!  Look at your stash and see if you can do the same!

Funkie Junkie May Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello Crafty Friends! I am thrilled to be a new Design Team member for Funkie Junkie Boutique. The May challenge is Anything Goes. I just picked up Salvage Patina Distress Inks and have been anxious to give it a whirl!

I started with White Heavyweight Distress Cardstock which handles water very well. Ink smooshing is one of my favorite techniques, so of course it started there! Salvaged Patina mixed with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink makes a great pairing.

After smooshing, drying and smooshing again, I decided the base needed more interest so I pulled out the Stampers Anonymous Architecture Stamp set and white heat embossed the cathedral image over the background. I ink blended the edges with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.

The Sizzix Deckle Edge Trimmer has become one of my favorites. I used it to trim the edges down 1/8 inch on all sides.

Next project was to created the butterfly. I used the Sizzix Perspective Butterfly Die which is a large die. The entire butterfly will not fit on an A2 card which provides a great opportunity to use only a portion of it.  I die cut most of the right wing with the body and antennae on White Heavyweight Distress Cardstock.

Ink Blending added a perfect amount of color. The center is Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and the wings are blended with Salvage Patina.
The darker edges are achieved by rubbing an embossing ink pad over the ends and adding Broken China Embossing Glaze. Isn’t it a gorgeous effect?

The last piece needed was sentiments.  I love the Stamper’s Anonymous Tiny Text Stamp. Now I have sentiments for any possible theme. I chose With brave wings she flies and Don’t forget to fly stamps. Stamped on white cardstock in black ink, they are perfect to cover with Broken China Glaze and heat set.  The Believe in Yourself strip is white heat embossed on black cardstock.  The strips have an additional 2 layers of cardstock to add dimension.

Layered Spring Orange Colored Cards

Hello friends! This month's kit from Taylor Made Cards 4 U is Shades of Orange and I am sharing bright cards created with the kit!

Today we will look at the garden themed cards, and cover the last two cards in a week or so!

There is such a great variety of images in this set!  I was drawn to the floral images.

Let's start with the slimline card.  I started with one of the paper printouts in the kit, trimmed to use on a slimline card. One of Sizzix's Tim Holtz corner dies provided the texture in the upper left corner. I love the watering can image and used that as a focus.

I sliced the top of the watering can so I could insert the flowers. Another Sizzix Tim Holz die cut the variety of flowers from watercolor paper that had inks smooshing.

The kraft paper hello is layered three times for dimension and glued on the watering can!

The second card is full of dimension and layers! The base is one of the smaller background papers included in the set, topped with a tag from the set. I layered the tag on kraft and black paper for interest and popped it up with fun foam.

Check out all the fun ephemera pieces! The boots and watering can are from the Shades of Orange kit, while the additional flowers and butterfly are from a Tim Holtz Ideology set.

I just love the texture created by using layers!

I have a video here documenting the process, That is part of a larger YouTube hop:
